How To Make The Most Of Your Snack Credits

On The Disney Dining Plans

Each Disney Dining Plan includes one snack credit per day for everyone in your party. The Dining Plan credits are per resort nights and not number of ticket days. Example: if you are staying 6 nights, with 5-day tickets, you will have 6 days of dining credits. This will include 6 snack credits per person. The snack credits have evolved to offer more choices than the original plans allowed. This may be confusing because now we are left wondering what's allowed and what's not.

The plans used to only allow single servings of popcorn, ice cream, fruit, and soda. While you can still get those, you can also choose a cookie, cupcake, candy, and various beverages. Did you know that you can even get a Dole Whip? That's just the beginning of the expanded list of snack credit offerings.

Some of our favorites that we try to snatch as soon as we get there, are the caramel apples, fudge, and Mickey rice krispy treats. My family has a tradition of checking into the resort, heading straight to the Magic Kingdom and popping into the Main Street Confectionary. They have so many choice and just about everything sweet you can imagine My personal favorite is their fudge and the peanut butter cookies.

Tradition also dictates we have at least one caramel apple, one Mickey ice cream, and one Mickey rice krispy treat. I also always pick up a few boxes of the Mickey rice krispy treats to bring home. After we get home, we love to sit around and go through all of our pictures while snacking on a Mickey rice krispy treat. Helps to extend the magic as long as we can.

After doing some research, I have learned about new snacks and I can't wait to pick them up on our next trip. The beverages have stepped up beyond sodas and bottled water to Starbucks and Joffrey's coffee or tea. Even though you have to stick to normal sized beverages they also include fancy macchiatos and frappuccinos.  If you are stopping by Gaston's Tavern at the Magic Kingdom, you can pick up a the popular LeFou's Brew (this is not the souvenir mug one).

If you happen to be at Epcot for the day, they have 3 out of the top 5 bakeries at Disney World. The top 3 spots can be found at Epcot, Les Halles Boulangerie, Patisserie, and Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. Each of these places have many items that you can use with your snack credits. It's always wise though to make sure by asking before you wait in the checkout line. Some items might exceed in value what a snack credit is worth, so it might not qualify. That's why you should always ask.

We will be making a trip to Disney's Boardwalk to check out the new Ample Hills Creamery. I hear they have the best ice cream desserts at Disney World.  You are only allowed a small cone or cup, but reviews show that it is well worth it. Small servings are the best way to try something new. If ice cream is your favorite dessert, don't forget the Mickey ice cream bars. Vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate  and you can find them at all four parks.

The whole point of this post has been to learn and share all the new options for snack credits. Some I have already tried and some I haven't but will be trying on my next Disney vacation. I just wanted to share what I did know and my findings with you so you can be aware of your options. Please comment if you have your favorite snacks to add or ones you found while on vacation.
