CHEF MICKEY’S

Reviewing our favorite character buffet

One of our favorite character meals is Chef Mickey's buffet at the Contemporary Resort, a deluxe resort. At Chef Mickey's, not only will you find an awesome buffet, you will get to meet Mickey and the gang. By gang of course I mean Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. However, the fun for us starts when we take the bus from our resort to the Magic Kingdom to hop on the monorail to the Contemporary Resort.

For those of you that might not know, the Monorail drives right through the Contemporary Resort. What a fun way to get to your destination! Once you arrive at Chef Mickey's, you will be seated at your reservation time, and you do need an advanced reservation. Chef Mickey's is one of the most popular character dining choices so they stay booked for all meals.  You can make advanced dining reservations, also called ADR's by logging onto the Disney Dining website.

The buffet consists of everything you can imagine that you could want for breakfast. There are classic breakfast foods such as eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns, biscuits, English muffins, gravy, and much more. There is also a pastry area with dozens of different pastries. Omelets, crepes, pancakes, or waffles are cooked up for you while you wait. For the ultra-picky kiddos, yes they also have an array of cereals, fruit, yogurt, and fruit juice. We love that the portions are small so you can try everything, well almost everything.

While you are eating, Mickey and the gang travel from table to table to greet everybody and take pictures. This, of course is our favorite part. Who wouldnt want to get a morning hug from Mickey and Minnie. Watch out for Goofy because he just loves to mess your hair up as he walks by. You will also see Donald and Daisy.

I highly recommend Chef Mickeys as one of your character meals rather you have kids or not. After all Mickey is the star of the show at WDW and I give the buffet an  A+ for variety and quality. If you have the Dining Plan it only counts as one table service. We use ours for brunch, then have a snack in the afternoon and a quick service dinner that day. Sometimes we do quick service all one day and use our table service for breakfast and dinner one day. The dining plan is very flexible and once all your credits are loaded on your magic band, you can use them however you like. Just keep up with your balance so you don't run out before your stay is over.
